Dr. Ann Wigmore’s Energy Soup

Dr. Ann’s Original CHI Energy Soup Recipe:
 Dr. Ann Wigmore said:
”Energy soup is the easiest, healthiest and quickest meal on earth!”

Blend in your blender or food processor, using rejuvelac as the base:

•5 cups of home-grown baby greens
•1-2 cups of bean sprouts – alternate daily between mung, lentil and green pea
 •half to one avocado – for its clean mono-unsaturated fat (like olive oil) with no cholesterol, and rich in enzymes – avocado “savorizes” the greens;
 •one apple – for sweetness, and to help digest all the proteins;
•2 tablespoons of seaweed – for its minerals and trace minerals, like iodine for thyroid – alternate daily between dulse, kelp and black nori.
At CHI we always eat our soup with sauerkraut and flax or flax cream. When we make sweet soup we add an apple and maybe some fresh ginger.
Sending love and blessings to all our family and friends, Bobby

The Keys To Optimum Health

Four things we must have to gain optimum health…

Dr. Ann Wigmore taught us, poor diet is the beginning of poor digestion, which creates nutritional deficiencies thus slowing the body’s digestive processes, creating internal fermentation, inflammation, free radicals, an over abundance of mucus, all of which when combined create toxic residues which are absorbed into the bloodstream, causing self-toxification.

  1. We must have live enzymes to begin the digestive process. Some of them will be supplied by our bodies systems, while others will be provided by eating raw living foods.
  2. Our bodies must have ‘friendly’ intestinal bacteria, which is supported by our eating a complex carbohydrate diet which also contains fermented foods.
  3. We must eat properly combined meals which include adequate amounts of natural fiber. When we do this we are able to give our body’s what they need to keep our stomachs choleric acid at the proper level, insure our small intestine is more alkaline than acidic and our large intestines pH is neutral.
  4. Loving yourself and being willing to serve others as we would wish to be served, helps us to more easily eliminate the physical and emotional toxins that keep us from being able to eliminate that which does not serve us.

When we follow the four principals, we have created a solid health foundation and we can feel confident that we will be able to prevent many of the health challenges that are associated with the standard American diet.  Remember the lifestyle program that has worked for you while at CHI will also work for you the rest of your life, all you need to do is make your health your number one priority and you will be able to serve yourself and those you love at the highest level possible.

Love and Blessings,

Bobby

Simple Healthful Herbs And Healing Foods For Your Children

One of our past guests had just become a new grandmother and she asked my opinion on raw living foods for children and if children could eat herbs when they were sick. That is why I am writing this article  – because she asked me to help her and because I thought some of our other past guests and readers could benefit from how I answered her questions.

Keeping our children healthy is our primary purpose as parents and grandparents.  The living foods lifestyle is the strongest health foundation you can give your child, yet there are times when parents must consider additional modalities when helping their children through an illness.  It’s my hope that you will never have to use any of the following herbs or concoctions, but if you do, keep in mind that herbs can interact with other herbs, supplements and/or medications. For these reasons, you should only give herbs to a child when under the supervision of a health care practitioner. So if you do want to use these time-tested protocols, please consult your healthcare provider for diagnosis and medical advice before giving them to your children.

The following list of symptoms and the herbs and concoctions used to address them is by no means meant to be a comprehensive listing and only reflects some of the protocols I am personally aware of.  If you have found other simple protocols please feel free to add them to the comments.  I would love to hear from you.

Blessings,

Bobby

Herbs and Protocols

Colic:  When your child cries for extended periods (1-2 hours), pulls its legs up to the belly, or extends its legs out and will not calm down they may be experiencing colic.  Mild, yet effective herbal teas made from Anise, Catnip, Caraway or Fennel, and Peppermint have been used by mothers to sooth their children’s colic.

Colds: When your child is suffering from a cold you also suffer.  All of these herb and concoctions will really help your child when they are fighting a cold. Your first line of defense should be used early and often. Echinacea is a great all round herb which provides immune support and may help protect your child from viral and bacterial infections.   I also like Anise  as it will help with breaking up the mucus and make it easier for your child to breath and  get the mucous out of his/her body.  You may also want to make a Chamomile tea, infused with peppermint, licorice and lemon balm. This concoction will help calm your child’s cough and works as an expectorant. If your child is older you may want to talk to your health care provider about Mullen tea.

Constipation:  Good hydration is the most effective way to relive constipation and this is easy to achieve, when your child is getting plenty of pure water along with raw fruits and vegetables which contain large amounts of water. Also a blend of Chamomile and Marigold teas will help prevent constipation, while gently helping your little one’s bowels to move.  Two other good herbs are aloe and sienna both possesses laxative action and act on your child’s large intestine to stimulate peristalsis.

Cough:When your child coughs it is a sign that his/her body is attempting to an inflamed (croup- dry cough) or mucus congested airway (wet cough).  All of the herbal remedies I’m sharing with you will decrease inflammation, reduce mucus production and have a soothing relaxing affect that quickly helps stop the coughing.   Warm herbal tea with licorice, honey (only give honey to children who are at least 1 years old) and a little lemon juice is excellent for helping ease the tickle that sets off a cough.  Children of all ages who have coughs benefit from running a humidifier with eucalyptus oil in the water as it will break up mucus and soothe your child’s coughing reflex.  Make sure the humidifier is out of your child’s reach, or use a cold humidifier.  Also, if your child is over 1 years old give them a spoonful of honey with a little lemon mixed in before they go to bed as this will help alleviate soreness.  There are many wonderful natural herbal cough syrups that you can make or purchase.  Contact your health care for recipes and suggestions.  Don’t forget to keep checking your child’s temperature and to keep him/her hydrated.

Cradle Cap: Consists of dead skin cells which remain attached to your babies head. These dead skin cells block your baby’s pores and mix with body oils.  Cradle Cap usually appears within the first days of your child’s life.  Your child will not usually experience itching or pain with Cradle Cap.  Before bedtime you can rinse your baby’s head with a simple warm mixture of  Alendula and Comfrey, then let the baby’s scalp air dry, then massage organic olive oil mixed with lavender and mullein into the scalp and leave it in overnight, wash it away with mild natural soap and water each morning. The Cradle Cap should disappear within a few days.  Seborrhea- is a form of Cradle Cap that has formed on other areas of the body.

Diaper Rash:  Is usually caused by a diaper containing urine/stool and the material of the diaper rubbing against the child’s skin.  The way to identify this type of rash is to look at the folds of the skin (which are more protected) if they are not red, you have diaper rash caused by simple irritation.   Most other diaper rashes are cause by yeast or bacterial infections. The yeast rash will show up bright red, often with small red pimples on the outer edges.  The bacterial rash will have fluid-filled pimples which look yellowish with some crusty areas.

Diarrhea: As your child begins to eat different combinations of foods the bowels sometime will react and your child may get diarrhea. To alleviate the discomfort associated with diarrhea, you may want to have your child eat fresh grated raw or lightly steamed carrots, mixed with equal parts applesauce (include the apples skin).  I also like raspberry and peppermint tea blended, as this concoction helps to stop cramping, calms diarrhea and will also help lower a fever.

Earache: If your child experiences regular earaches or earaches which last more than 12 hours be sure to contact your physician.  Usually earaches accompany colds and coughs. If you are a smoker stop!  Smoke from cigarettes plays a major role in many children’s earaches.  Before giving your child herbs or medications, try sitting him/her up and placing a cool washcloth on the ear that is troubling them.  If your child is old enough to chew gum  give him/her a piece of herbal chewing gum, as this can sometimes lower the pain. As long as your child’s eardrum is not punctured you may want to warm some olive oil and add a few drops of grapefruit seed extract along with a drop of garlic and tea tree oil. Place a piece of warm cotton in the ear and lay a warm, slightly damp cloth over the ear and begin a vaporizer that has eucalyptus oil in it. You may repeat putting on warm cloths until your child ear stops hurting.  Should your child’s earache not subside, you should contact your physician.

Teething:Children seeking comfort from the pain of teething can use lemon balm as a tea or can chew on a washcloth soaked in the tea.

Raw Food Smoothie Immune Rejuvenation Diet

Based on Teachings of Dr. Wu, not Yu

By Simon Yu, MD

Dr. Tom Wu was giving a lecture on “Conquering Cancer With Simple Foods” while I was at the American Naturopathic Medical Association Convention. I was there to investigate this Naturopathic physician’s philosophy. I found his personal history and his lecture compelling. Permit me to share his teaching with you.

Dr. Tom Wu was trained as a pathologist inFrance. At one point in his life he developed lung cancer. He went through traditional western based medical therapy without success. He then decided to look for alternative natural healing methods. He eventually became a Naturopathic Medical Doctor. He is over 70 years old which you would never guess by his vibrant energy.

He strongly credits smoothies as part of his healing process. For these, you need a powerful “three horse power” blender (e.g. VitaMix.com) to cleave out and free the natural phytochemicals locked into the fibers of fruits and vegetables.

The juicing process won’t work for this purpose. It may provide the vitamins, enzymes, and minerals. However, it wastes a majority of the phytochemicals locked in the fibers. These phytochemicals have potent anti-aging and immune rejuvenating properties.

To start the smoothies, use ripe organic tomatoes, carrots, beets, and asparagus as your basic ingredients. There are over 500 different phytochemical nutrients that have been isolated from tomatoes and carrots alone.

Then, add spices and herbs using cilantro, parsley, ginger, turmeric, and cinnamon powder. If you cannot get turmeric, use curry powder as a substitute.

To enhance the taste, add sour fruits, especially blueberry, blackberry, or any seasonally available berries. Add Kiwi which should be peeled. You may add 1-2 cups of distilled or filtered water. (Alternatively, not as part of Dr. Wu’s teaching, I would offer that you could substitute juices of your choice like acai, apple, apple cider vinegar, cranberry, grape, goji, noni, or xango).

After blending the above fruits and vegetables thoroughly, add bee pollen, sea salt, and lecithin granules.

(I prefer not to add soy based lecithin but rather that you eat raw eggs as a substitute for lecithin.) Do not refrigerate the smoothie.

It is important not to drink the smoothie but chew the smoothie. You need to consume about a quart (32oz) of the smoothie throughout the day. By the end of the day, the smoothie will have gone through a fermentation process with a change in color and smell. However, it is just fine for you to still consume it.

Dr. Wu’s healing plan also includes a salad with sprouted alfalfa and sprouted beans. However, the “magic of healing” won’t happen if you aren’t including this smoothie once a day. It may take at least 3 – 4 months for the transformation of your body to heal

I recommend you try Dr. Tom Wu’s Raw Food Smoothie as part of a complete healing program. If you are allergic to any of the ingredients, you must eliminate them. I do recommend food allergy testing prior to starting the program.

You may add additional nuts, seeds, fruits, and vegetables based on individual conditions. Flax seeds for omega-3 essential fatty acids for all illnesses; garlic for infections; broccoli, cauliflower, and brazil nuts for their anti-cancer properties; bitter melon, Swiss Chard, and extra cinnamon for diabetes; pumpkin seeds for prostate problems; pomegranate with its seeds and black sesame seeds for women’s’ health; and celery for hypertension.

A Fruits and Vegetables Smoothie Diet is not a new idea. However, when I hear directly from a physician who cured his incurable lung cancer with simple foods, and listen to his conviction in his teaching, it has an “infectious” motivating effect on me to spread this old, new idea. After his lecture, I dusted off my Vita-Mix blender which has been idle for the last few years, and started his recommended smoothies.

Every day, my wife, Kate, and I make a smoothie which turns out slightly different in texture and taste each time. If you can continue this “Raw Food Immune Rejuvenation Smoothie Diet”, you may not need as many vitamins and minerals as I’ve been recommending to my patients.

If you are suffering from any chronic illness, it’s worthwhile to experiment with this diet that is based on Dr. Tom Wu, not Yu. You may contact him, Tom Wu, N.M.D., Ph.D. atWellnessSelfcareCenter, 831

Creative Health Institutes Take On Proper Seed Storage

As raw living foodest practicing, Dr. Ann Wigmore’s Living Food Lifestyle, we depended on sprouted seeds, to provide us with a host of powerful live enzymes, vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients. We have found the best way to insure we have the best seeds is to grow and store our own, for future use. This is not always possible and so we still get the majority of our seeds from vendors.

If you are going to purchase seeds make sure the seeds have been carefully dried under proper conditions, before you use them, or store them for later use. Proper storing of your seeds will give them the best chance of germinating and giving you the highest quality sprouts and micro-greens. The great thing is storing seeds is easy to accomplish.

At Creative Health Institute we do not have the facilities to freeze or refrigerate our seeds, but luckily we use them so quickly we do not have the need to freeze or refrigerate them.

Our basic storage rule is to keep our seeds in a cool, dry, dark place where the temperature is between 55 and 70 degrees and the humidity is less then 70%. The lower the humidity, the better.

Most of you will be able to freeze or refrigerate your seeds. Freezing them will at least quadruple the life of your seeds and refrigerating them doubles their life.

With more than 39 years of experience we have a pretty good understanding of different seeds shelf lives.  I have designed the following chart that should provide you with a conservative estimate of the life of seeds that have been properly dried. Since we do not have the room for refrigerators and freezer your storage time could be from 2 to 4 times longer. If you have more questions, feel free to call Bobby as 866.426.1213.

2. Black tea – many COPD sufferers turn to tea for relief from tightening in the chest. Black tea contains chemicals related to the stimulant theophylline, which is also the basis of many modern medical remedies. Three or four cups of black tea can open airway passages and ease breathing.
3. Ginkgo – when used regularly the active ingredient has helped some patients to cut down on prescribed medication. Taken three times a day for a week or a month at a time. Ginkgo helps relax the lungs and keeps the breathing passage clear. Check with your Doctor before taking this herb.
4. Vitamin C and magnesium – improves lung function.
5. Pleurisy Root – possesses a specific action on the lungs, assisting expectoration, subduing inflammation and exerting a general mild tonic effect on the system, making it valuable in all chest complaints. It is of great use in pleurisy, mitigating the pain and relieving the difficulty of breathing, and is also recommended in pulmonary catarrh. The infusion may be prepared by taking 1 teaspoonful of the powder in a cupful of boiling water. The decoction is taken in doses of 2 to 3 fluid ounces. The dose of the fluid extract is 1/2 to 1 drachm; of Asclepin, 1 to 4 grains. A much-recommended herbal recipe is: Essence of composition powder, 1 OZ.; fluid extract of Pleurisy Root, 1 OZ. Mix and take a teaspoonful three or four times daily in warm water. Doctor before taking this herb.
6. Yerba Santa Holy Herb – medicines prepared with it or its extracts to treat bronchial and laryngeal problems. In addition, in combination with other herbs such as Grindelia robusta (good for Asthmatic bronchitis) yerba santa is also effective in curing insistent pulmonary infections, hay fever and asthma. There is no proven safe or effective dose for yerba santa in adults. Traditionally, 1-2 milliliters of fluid extract has been taken by mouth with a spoon every 3-4 hours for no more than ten days.

WHAT IS THE FIRST THING SOMEONE SHOULD DO IF THEY HAVE CANCER?

SIMPLE – THEY SHOULD EAT A TOTALLY RAW ORGANIC LIVE FOOD DIET!
In my opinion, only raw organic living food has the enzymes, vitamins, phytonutrients and minerals intact.  If you want to get the nourishment you need to survive cancer eating organic raw live foods and only organic raw live foods, while you have cancer will provide your body with the energy it needs to create clean healthy cells, destroy the cancer cells and replace them with new healthy cells.  I believe you can push cancer into remission, ultimately destroy it and live a cancer free life.

Eating only organic raw fruits, vegetables, fermented food, nuts, seed and sprouted grains will give you the best chance of not only surviving the cancer, but will also enable you to strengthen your immune system and put a stop to any other sicknesses or diseases that may have gained ground in your body.

When I say you need to eat a organic raw living food diet it mean just that. That  means you must completely stop doing what you have been doing and to not eat any cooked food – Zero-Zilch-Nada – NOTHING COOKED!

Destroying cancer cells is serious business and if you are going to survive and have a healthy long life, you must be able to stop eating cooked foods and do what other people will not do! Think about it… Chemotherapy, radiation, hospitals, drugs, vomiting, diarrhea, headaches, body aches, baldness, absolute exhaustion, immune system torn own, being sick every day, financial ruin, etc. OR choose to simply eat organic living foods that provide your body with everything it needs to heal itself.

All of our guests at Creative Health Institute (CHI) eat only 100% organic, nutrient dense, raw living foods which are properly combined and easily assimilated. Dead food is never served and because we adhere to the living food principal taught by Dr. Ann Wigmore we always make sure that every meal is enriched with sprouted foods.

If you or a loved one is suffering from any disease, or sickness consider going on a 100% raw organic living food diet, until the sickness or disease has be alleviated. I spend time with 100’s of sick people every month and with most I see what many people would consider miracles as these individuals take charge of their own health and bring about their own healings, by simply using raw organic living foods as the basis for their turnarounds.

Since 1973 Creative Health Institute has taught more then 19,000 people how to take charge of their health and to overcome sickness and disease through by living a raw food lifestyle.

Wishing everyone the greatest of health and happiness,

My Toughts About Cellular Malfunction

Here is something to think about… Could all diseases and sicknesses be based in cellular malfunction? I have listed 10 reasons that I feel lend some credence to this train of thought.

Dr Ann Wigmore taught us that all disease is based in deficiency and toxicity. If this is true then it makes sense the first thing to suffer the effects of deficiency and toxicity would be our cells. What do you think; Could the detox rebuild program that we do here at Creative Health Institute (CHI) that includes wheat grass, living foods, rejuvelac, fermented foods, pure alkaline water, fresh clean air, proper rest at the right time, exercise and a positive-loving mental attitude change how a cell replicates and presents itself in our bodies?

1. There are 243 different types of cells that come in all shapes and sizes.
2. They are the bricks and mortar from which all living tissue and organs and systems are made.
3. Your body (tissue, organs and systems) is made up of more than 75 trillion of these cells.
4. You (spirit-brain) is given sole responsibility for every one of these 75 trillion plus cells health and welfare.
5. You have the greatest of responsibilities, as only you can guarantee the health and safety of every cell.
6. When you take charge of the situation, by providing proper guidance and direction every cell will answer to your commands.
7. Every second 10’s of millions of cells are reborn, creating amino acids, vitamins, hormones, neurotransmitters, enzymes and adenosinetriphosphate (ATP – cellular energy), all await your direction.
8. An almost endless army of cellular workers along with the bricks and mortar you will ever need to self generate a healthy body are under your command.
9. So, a strong healthy body can only originate at the cellular level and must be given the proper information and substance to do so.
10. So, a sick and diseased body can only originate at the cellular level and must be given improper information and harmful substance to do so.

Wishing you and your family the best year ever.

Dr. Joyce Oliveto Recounts Memories of Don and Dr. Ann, Expresses Enthusiasm for CHI’s Current Programs

Dr. Joyce Oliveto, who was the director of Creative Health Institute in 1986 and 1987, says whenever she returns to the center it feels like home.

The internationally renown teacher and healer visited the center during the winter and returns as a guest teacher in May when current director Bobby Morgan is out of the country.

Dr. Joyce, who has wonderful stories from her time spent with Dr. Ann Wigmore, said she was really amazed at the level our programs have been taken to under the direction of Morgan.

“To see the level of expertise is amazing,” Dr. Joyce said. “The classes are not only designed around the original program that Dr. Ann put together. They are even better.”

In addition to being impressed with the quality of classes now available for guests who participate in the CHI Detox Programs and gourmet raw chef classes, Dr. Joyce also said she is impressed with the skill level of the interns who devote months of time to make the programs work.

“Everyone has brought this to the highest level that a raw food center can be,” she said. “The healing that I see taking place here — the education, the motivation and the inspiration, is absolutely amazing.

Dr. Joyce said the feeling of community at CHI today is very close knit. In fact, she said, it is so close knit that she felt as if she was one-in-spirit with everyone at CHI during her five-day stay. She said she felt like that when she was the director. But she never expected to experience that level of community within a five-day stay.

“I believe at the very deepest levels of my heart that people need to know about this place,” she said.

Dr. Joyce came to the center in October 1980 after detoxing at the Hippocrates Institute in Boston with Dr. Ann Wigmore.  Her health transformed quickly but when she returned to her home in the Brighton area, she needed community. So Dr. Ann put her in touch with CHI Founder Don Haughey, whose memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Creative Health Institute.

She said when she walked in the door of CHI to meet Don she was desperate for support with the raw living foods lifestyle. Back then there was no other place in Michigan to turn to for support. She could hear carpenters working in the building when she opened the door. Don had purchased it when it was a tavern and when Dr. Joyce met him he was transforming it into a raw-living-foods retreat and education center.

“There were carpenters working on completing the additions to the saloon but from what I understand Don was teaching classes anyway,” Dr. Joyce said. “Back then it was Hippocrates Midwest.”

She loved meeting Don.

“He was a quiet presence. He just had so much knowledge. He could talk for hours no matter what the subject was.”

When Dr. Joyce became the director in 1986 Don was still running his business American Woodcraft and he would visit the center every day but just once a week for meetings.

“I think he walked quietly on the earth. He was a very gentle man — very firm. He knew what needed to be done. Everybody just loved him. They had an energy exchange program through which people would come and volunteer to work in order to get through the program.”

Dr. Joyce said the CHI community was very passionate in the late 1980s when she was director. They painted the buildings themselves and did everything they could with any bit of money they had extra. A few times families with children participated in the energy exchange.

“There was always building and remodeling going on between classes,” she said. “We all felt like free spirits but it was very busy. I remember when I needed to have a break, I would take some classical music out to the room that is now the sitting room. I would just go get my hands in the dirt and I would plant for twelve hours.”

In those days they used to swim nude across the street in front of the mill. There were bushes and trees for privacy and Don wasn’t yet living in the Mill. They had the famous CHI Sunday Buffet dinners and festivals with Dr. Ann Wigmore and Viktoras Kulvinskas.

Creative Health Institute was extremely special to Dr. Ann who visited in the summers.

“It really was the only center in the country that was following her path. Nobody else was. California had changed already,” Dr. Joyce said. “She always felt special when she was here.

When Dr. Joyce first became director of CHI, the center was in a lul. There were not enough guests to keep it going. So she called Dr. Ann to see if she would help her with a marketing effort. The two of them went on tour making appearances on local radio and television stations in Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.

They stayed in hotels with separate rooms and Dr. Ann always ate alone by herself in her room. After finishing her own dinner, Dr. Ann prepared a meal for Dr. Joyce.

“She would have a table cloth on the floor with a plate and energy soup, dehydrated dates and bananas,” Dr. Joyce said. “We laid on her bed and watched old movies. She loved old movies.”

The times with Dr. Ann were just wonderful, she said.

“She always smelled like strawberries. She used strawberry essential oil and beet juice on her cheeks for a natural blush.”

If they were doing a cable TV show, they would bring in a tray of wheatgrass and a tray of buckwheat. Someone at one of the studios once walked up to the greens and started petting them. “Wow, it smells like strawberries,” the person said, not knowing it was the smell of Dr. Ann’s essential oils.

Dr. Ann winked and said, “Yes, it does, doesn’t it?”

“She had a light-heartedness about her. She was a really sweet soul,” Dr. Joyce said. “But a lot of people didn’t realize that she was funny.”

The fact that Creative Health Institute is keeping the simple raw-living-food traditions of the great healer alive is wonderful because so many other centers have broken from Ann Wigmore’s teachings, Dr. Joyce said.

“One woman knew and believed that we could make a consciousness shift in the world through the living food lifestyle but she took her education, her life experiences with her grandmother, her personal experiences with almost having her foot removed, her health challenges – and started this dream in Boston with Hippocrates Health Institute.”

Dr. Joyce is glad to see the degree to which Dr. Ann is respected and honored at Creative Health Institute and she hopes the Creative Health Institute Community will always keep the memory and traditions of Dr. Ann alive.

“Dr. Ann has had over 50 years of people healing with raw and living foods and the simplicity of this healing program and what it dos for our bodies and our minds and our souls,” Dr. Joyce said. “Her work worked and why change it? Why not pay tribute and recognize somebody who made such a contribution to the world.”

The medical community in the United States has been slow to recognize the benefits of Dr. Ann’s teaching but Dr. Joyce said when she visited other countries she would be met my heads of state and they put her program in hospitals.

“Creative Health Institute has taken Dr. Ann Wigmore’s work – her passion, her vision, her dream,” Dr. Joyce said. “I feel it has been brought to the highest level it could ever be brought to today in 2011. I have never seen it better and I have never seen it this good… There is no ego here.”

Bobby Say’s Two Ounces Of Almonds Contain More Protein Than A Typical Egg

Raw Organic Almonds Are Rawsome

Here at Creative Health Institute we use almonds in many of our recipes and almost daily as we make fresh almond milk which is a mainstay in our diets.  We highly recommend eating  and using only raw organic almonds. Raw organic almonds taste better and you’ll get more food value for your money.  Never eat roasted, glazed, boiled, cooked or  salted almonds as their fats will be rancid and almonds which have been cooked in anyway above 120 degrees are lifeless and devoid of many of the nutrients which make them such a wonderful food when they are eaten in their natural state.

Raw Organic Almonds Are A Protein Powerhouse

A quarter-cup of raw organic almonds contain 7.62 grams of protein. more protein than is provided by the typical egg, which contains 5.54 grams. Protein: 1.58 g – The recommended daily protein requirements for humans are derived from “ideal body weight”. The ideal body weight is calculated based on height and varies slightly for men and women. Our protein requirements can also be expressed in terms of total caloric intake.

The world health organization and many national health agencies have independently conducted studies, which (even though they differ slightly) all conclude our daily protein requirement should be between 10% to 15% of our daily caloric intake.

Get To Know Your Almonds

The almond that we think of as a nut is technically the seed of the fruit of the almond tree, a medium-size tree that bears fragrant pink and white flowers. Like its cousins, the peach, cherry and apricot trees, the almond tree bears fruits with stone-like seeds (or pits) within. The seed of the almond fruit is what we refer to as the almond nut.

Eating Almonds Will Help You Loose Weight

A recent 28 month study of how raw organic almonds affect our health and involving 8,865 adult men and women in Spain, found that participants who ate nuts at least two times per week were 31% less likely to gain weight than were participants who never or almost never ate nuts.

Researchers organized 20 women into 2 groups: the almond group and the control group.

The almond group consumed 344 calories worth of almonds (about 2 oz.) each day, while keeping the rest of their diet exactly the same. The control group simply stuck to their normal eating habits without including any almonds at all. During this 23 week study, doctors kept track of the participants’ body weight, metabolic rates, physical activity, and Vitamin E blood levels. The results were quite surprising:

  1. A daily serving of almonds can help you feel full without leading to weight gain.
  2. The almond group also benefited from an increase in several important vitamins and nutrients found in almonds:
  3. Vitamin E – In addition to their cholesterol-lowering effects, almonds’ ability to reduce heart disease risk may also be partly due to the antioxidant action of the vitamin found in the almonds, as well as to the LDL-lowering effect of almonds’ monounsaturated fats. (LDL is the form of cholesterol that has been linked to atherosclerosis and heart disease). When almonds are substituted for more traditional fats in human feeding trials, LDL cholesterol can be reduced from 8 to 12%.
  4. Potassium –  an important electrolyte involved in nerve transmission and the contraction of all muscles including the heart, is another mineral that is essential for maintaining normal blood pressure and heart function. Almonds promote your cardiovascular health by providing 257 mg of potassium and only 0.3 mg of sodium, making almonds an especially good choice to in protecting against high blood pressure and atherosclerosis.

Similar studies have shown that subjects can consume up to 570 calories worth of almonds per day without leading to weight gain.

  1. Almonds all help reduce spikes in blood sugar when combined with high-carbohydrate meals. Lessening after-meal surges in blood sugar helps protect against diabetes and cardiovascular disease, most likely by lessening the increase in cholesterol-damaging free radicals that accompanies large elevations in blood sugar. This is one reason why low- glycemic index diets result in lower risk of diabetes and heart disease.
  2. Almonds appear to not only decrease after-meal rises in blood sugar, but also provide antioxidants to mop up the smaller amounts of free radicals that still result. (Jenkins DJ, Kendall CW, Journal of Nutrition)

Five large human epidemiological studies, including the Nurses Health Study, the Iowa Health Study, the Adventist Health Study and the Physicians Health Study, all found that nut consumption is linked to a lower risk for heart disease.

Researchers who studied data from the Nurses Health Study estimated that substituting nuts for an equivalent amount of carbohydrate in an average diet resulted in a 30% reduction in heart disease risk. Researchers calculated even more impressive risk reduction–45%–when fat from nuts was substituted for saturated fats (found primarily found in meat and dairy products).  Creative Health Institute will continue to prepare almonds in many forms to so as to make sure our guests have the best nutrients including protein.

Creative Health Institutes Take On Raw Living Food And The Great Protein Myth

 Creative Health Institute
Debunks
 “The Protein Myth”

Decreasing The Amount Of Meat You Eat Could Save Your Life
No Meat
The Raw Living Food Lifestyle Provides The Best Source Of Protein On The Planet!
The first question most students ask upon embarking on our program steeped in the traditons of Ann Wigmore’s Raw Living Foods Lifestyle is; where do we get our protein? This is a good question, so on  our first evening together we address their question by going through the list of protein rich fruits, vegetables, seed, nuts and sprouts they will be eating during their stay at the institute. Upon seeing the list of fruits, vegetable, seed, nuts and sprouts and the amount of protein they will be consuming on a daily basis there usually is a resounding WOW! They learn that by embracing this lifestyle they will not only get enough protein, they will be getting the vitamins, minerals, phyto-nutrients, live enzymes and the right combination of amino acids combined to form protein which is perfectly designed for their body’s. We’ve been brainwashed by the meat, dairy and supplement companies into thinking we need one gram of protein per pound of bodyweight, but science has NEVER shown that humans need that level of protein.  The truth is most foods have some combination of protein, carbohydrates and fat -and vegetables contain all three macro-nutrients!  The World Health Organization (W.H.O) has stated we need to consume a minimum of 10% of your daily caloric intake from protein to be healthy and build lean muscle mass. If you are eating a 2,000-calorie diet, 10% of your diet should be made up of protein, which would be 200 calories. Each gram of protein has 4 calories, so that calculates out to 50 grams of protein per day.  Getting this level of protein is easy to do if you are practicing the Living Foods Lifestyle.
Wishing all of you the best life ever.
